Kenwood 8126 love it but hate it.

Got a problem that is driving me mad. My 8126 will not hold radio presets (I have and external Kenwood HD tuner). Every say 10 times I start the truck it goes to 88.7 and losses all ,my presets. Had a double din alpine that did the same thing before this unit with HD radio. Had a JVC unit before the alpine hooked to same wiring harness with no issues with built in HD radio. Here is what I have done to try and fix this.

Changed ground twice and then hooked ground directly to battery still have problem.

Bypasses the memory wire and ran straight to battery same problem.

Replaced HD radio unit with new one same problem.

I currently have both ground and memory ran to battery with this same issue.

The only thing I have not done is remove the HD radio and see if it does this with normal radio stations. Does not make sense cause the alpine did this too. What are the chances of two bad units from two different manufacters with the same weird issue?

I took the truck to my trusty car audio shop after giving up on this and they have never heard anything like it. Two units different manufacters with the same issue. All though the JVC worked before??????

In my 2002 HD duramax crewcab I have two memphis 10" subs. Memphis belle 5 channel hybrid amp. alpine door speakers and the 8126.

Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Another thing I forgot to mention. Could be a voltage over ground issue. I do have two battteries so I might bot notice a small voltage leak. But if my ground is ran to the battery for the radio now then I am bypassing this problem right?

thanks in advance!

For 1 thing you shouldn't hook up the remote to 12V. I believe those run in the millivolts..Did you run the Constant 12v to the battery or to the factory connection? try running it straight to the battery if you haven't. Ignition wire shouldn't come in play on this problem but where is that ran?

Did I say remote? Meant memory wire (yellow on on the kenwood) my bad.

I thought a 12V car system is 12V everywhere with just different amperage. Without a resister in line how would you drop the voltage?

I have not wired the power to the battery directly. Will try this too and rewire the remote back to harness. Was just doing this for testing purposes. The ignition wire is ran to the harness. thanks!
