I'm gonna put some serious weatherstripping on that rear window so it shouldn't budge, the wiper actually hardly moves, especially on the lows.Remove that rear wiper if it doesn't work because its more than likely going to bounce off the back glass once you get the 4 12s in
Lol for sure. I'm curious to see how this does, obsidians have a reputation of doing good on the lows so I have high hopes for this. ***** that I am going to be going down in output a lot from switching out the 18, oh wellNice one Jesse! Keep up the good work I want ot hear it, demo for demo haha.
I know with my sonotube ports aren't flared, and when I played down to 23hz +/- I would get port noise, maybe try doing as much flaring as you can with how it is now? I know its probably a little harder to flare PVC while its in the box vs my carboard/wood tubes.Initial thoughts on the bandpass: much more authority below 30hz but everything above that is meh. Granted I haven't played with the tuning or anything so the box is actually tuned to like 34-35hz lol. Gonna shorten up the ports at least 4" to bring it up to around 40-42hz. There is also a TON of port noise. It could be three things: not enough port area (I'm using 2 4" ports), tuning is too low for the port area, or it's because the PVC isn't flared. If raising my tuning doesn't make it go away, I'm going to remove the 2 4's that are in right now and get an 8" port. If I'm still having issues, it means something with my ported/sealed is messed up, so I'll probably just go ahead and build another box.
I'll give a 6" sono tube a shot and see how it sounds. If I still get port noise I'll just order an aero port or something. I get port noise down on those low lows (20-24hz) and also 35hz+. In between I don't really hear anything though.I know with my sonotube ports aren't flared, and when I played down to 23hz +/- I would get port noise, maybe try doing as much flaring as you can with how it is now? So far I'm very impressed with it. It's keeping up with a lot of abuse I've been giving it. I'll play full tilt for 5 minutes straight and don't smell any coil. The 12 is killing those lows like nobodys business, but the 18 destroyed anything from 33 on up. Granted they used two very different boxes, however if I were to choose a sub to dig into the real low end I would have to choose the obsidian. The 18 is better for stuff down to 30hz.How do you like the obsidian?
There rated at 600rms right? Could you see it taking more, if so how much? I kinda want to switch things up and i am kinda interested in obsidian. So far I'm very impressed with it. I wanna say it's getting a solid 1k right now. I don't want to give it anymore because I can't see how much the sub is moving so I don't wanna risk damaging it. Considering what one of these subs does, I can only imagine what 4 of them will do off ~3500There rated at 600rms right? Could you see it taking more, if so how much?
