anyone have one of these? if so post your oppinion on it. i have it and i find it to be a great unit, although not as feature packed audio wise as many other HU's it still has 5v pre outs and plays giga mp3's. i guess it boils down to what you are looking for, i wanted a DIN size unit with a screen,detachable face and ability to play DVD's which it does. (basicly distract my GF while i drive) however it doesnt have time correction/allignment or crossover controls that a hardcore SQ guy would want. i think it still sounds better than the CDA-7892 that it replaced.

JVC is having reliabilty issues this year go for a HU from Pioneer/Kenwood/Clarion/Panasonic good performers at good prices.

Really?? funny because i havent seen one thread on here talking about JVC problems, 90% of the problem threads are about pioneer HU's. I work for an authorized JVC dealer and we hardly ever get a bad HU, most of the ones that are bad are because some moron customer wired it up wrong and burned it up.

you couldnt pay me enough to put a clarion, panasonic or eclipse HU in my car.

i LOVE mine, the picture quality is AWESOME!! plus its detachable and just looks like a regular radio when the face is off.

just tie the green brake wire and the ground together and you can watch dvd's while you drive.

i had a 7inch flip out before but i didnt like the fact that it wasnt detachable (iva-c800) any moron walking by could see i had a screen, also i like the fact it doesnt have a seperate brain to hide.

another good thing is the 5v pre-outs, most other screens you will find only have a 2volt preout.

Funny, we get about 1 JVC returned a week because they like to eat CD's like there's no tomorrow.

I use it to shut up my G/F on long trips, my 2yo daughter watches it sometimes also. the only time i watch it is when i am waiting for her somewhere or waiting in the drive-thru line. im so used to displays and monitors it doesnt distract me at all, besides its not like im missing anything, all the movies i have ive already seen 100 times anyway. it does kinda drive me nuts after a couple of hours of listening to dora the explorer, but my daughter likes to watch it and it keeps her entertained so i tolerate it.

yeah i definatly dont condone someone bypassing just to look cool and watch it while driving. i did it so my other passengers could see it because i dont have any other monitors right now.

Reading the user's manual, it shows a 5v line level output, but only 2v subwoofer output... is this correct?

FYI...

"We would like to thank you for your recent e-mail inquiry to JVC.

The Line Output on the KD-AVX1 is 5V and the Subwoofer Output is 2V."
