JVC inactive faceplate stereo, Please help

my family got a really sweet deal getting a 98 honda civic for around 500 bucks and it came with a killer stereo, that has worked very good for a long time. Until..... I dropped the faceplate on the plastic dash near the car shifter. Now cd's will play but I cannot adjust anything on the faceplace, no volume control, no track switching, can't even switch to radio. Not one of the buttons has any effect when I press it, even when the faceplate lights up like normal shows track info and everything and still plays cd's I just can't use anything on the faceplace and the remote that came with it does'nt even work. I am not a car guy or electrical suavy, so please try to keep the language notice friendly

thanks for anything you guys can come up with, I am going to sleep shortly, and will revisit this thread later in the afternoon of 12/5/12 maybe 5pm or so, so please don't get frustrated if I do not reply right away.

and if this is in the wrong forum please give me direction as to what I should use

here's the info on the stereo, don't know where booklet is, this is what is on the faceplate

200w/ JVC/ KD-G400/ sirius compatible / compact disc digital audio text/ Mp3/ CD-RW/

(picture is in attachments)

thanks again guys and gals
