Just bought this Kenwood Excelon KDC-X790

Bought it from someone on the forums for 35$ shipped.

Nice price right? Well he did say the CD player did not work.

But the black chassis ground wire is broken off of the wiring harness //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I'm guessing he broke it trying to get it out of his car.

So ughhh, any suggestions on what I could do? Its the wiring harness to the cd player, not to my car. I tried going to crutchfield but they don't sell them. Asked their live chat if they could hook me up, no luck.

Do you think if I called crutchfield acting like I bought the unit and it broke they would get me one? Or do you think they would check their records and say..uh..liar.

Is there any way I can add my own ground wire to it?

The metal prong for the ground on the hu is still there.

I got the wiring harness, but there metal piece inside the plastic molex is missing. Any ideas??

pop out the metal piece and then use a pick hook to remove and relocate one of the other 'unnecessary' wires like dimmer or illum...

You could always rig up something im sure...

But for the cheap price, just purchase a replacement harness from Kenwood directly.
