Just bought a pretty awesome head unit... need some insight.

Alright I just bought this: NEW PIONEER AVH-P3100DVD 5.8" LCD DVD CD MP3 CAR PLAYER - eBay (item 360250886698 end time May-08-10 00:05:26 PDT)

To put in my 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT; should arrive soon enough. Yet I was wondering:

1. can I put custom Boot Screen/Splash Screens on it?

2. do people make like custom "ROMS" or different firmware to improve it's abilities

And overall what do you think of the AVH-P3100DVD and Pioneer? Anything I should know? I also bought an iPod cord to go with it...

Will I just feed that iPod cord through the seam in the dash or what?

And is there a way to bypass this head unit without spending the 20 dollars and WITHOUT A SWITCH, I don't want a switch.

i put in several of these and i used a switch. you cant just wire it to ground it has to see an adjustment to ground on the parking brake wire. the 3100dvd is a nice deck, i like the 3200dvd becasue it has built in BT and soon you can add a nav system to it. but hey for the right price its a good deck. whati also do not like it the usd and mini jack have to be used on the fron of the deck there are no usb and mini connections on the back if it.

you should, i think thy have sd slots on the front too
