JL zr's and DLS iridium´s

The ZR's have the most superior woofer ever offered by JL (for comps). It's basically engineered and built like the W7 and W6, minus the W cone. (I.E. DMA modeled motor, elevated frame cooling, polypropeline cones) Kurt Muller parts and suspensions are also used.

The main difference between them and the C5's is the tweeter. The C5's are silk (smoother sounding) the ZR's are aluminum (harsher sounding). If you prefer the sharper, more in your face highs of a metal tweeter, then go ahead. I like the silk dome tweets, so I prefer the C5's.

Haven't heard the DLS so I cannot comment.

all right thanks bro, nice review..

is there someone else with some experience in both ??

DLS are more laid back and warm sounding as opposed to the JL's which are harsh. DLS are also made by morel as well. I would go with the iridiums.

they are almost at the same price range....

all the system is jl, 450/4 500/1 and a 12w6v2, planin on going active...

so thats why i was thinking on ZR comps....

but i have heard some good things about iridiums...

I would definitely not go with either if you are going active. Select your own drivers from madisound.

eugenics is right. i regret buying a branded comp set when i can build a diy comp kit from scratch and go active from the beginning using seas / scan speak / peerless drivers. and have a 300 comp set sound like a 600 - 700 dollar one. it the truth.

What about the ZR570's? My dealer is recommending those over the 650's as my Charger as the fitting for both and says it will be a better mid then the 6.5?
Sounds to me the installer is either too lazy or lacks the ability to make a plate to fit a 6.5. I would otherwise see absolutely no reason for a oval driver. Sound is round ..
