ok guys im pretty new to this stuff. i have used the search key and can not really get the answer to my question. my friend has a w6v2 in a ported box with a jl slasher 250/1 and is selling it for $150 due to the lack of knowing how much his sisters setup really costed. Now when it says 250/1, is 250 a rms #? looking at jl's website it seems that 300rms is the recomended output. I just dont really understand if 250 is referring to the total output it is capable of. So any guidance is appreciated, and if there is a better setup i can get for 150 (im doubting) let me know lol.

go buy that stuff right now. Sell the amp and buy a bigger one. you could probably get at least $200 for amp. $150.00 for the whole set up is a steal.

12W6v2 will be just fine with a JL 500/1 on it, or any good quality amp putting out true 500 RMS.

The deal you're getting is a steal. Do it and like posted, sel the amp on ebay or anywhere else for $150, save up some more pennies and get a good quality 500w amp for W6.

he knows. whats it matter if they just spent 40 grand on a new sierra for him right lol? money is not a problem with this family. im buying the setup tomorrow and then will give ebay a try. thats a whole other thing i have to worry about now. any recommendations on a 500rms amp would be greatly appreciated (in the $150 price range). again thanks for all the help guys.

since the w6 is a 4ohm sub, does that mean with that amp it will only run 300rms? it says it does 500watts at 2ohms but im not sure what all that really is saying. and you guys sure this thing can handle 500rms (i thought the peak in a 500rms amp could blow this sub?), cause i saw on there site 300watts is the ideal rms. sorry for all the questions.

Whether or not his family has money should have nothing to do with things being done the right way if he is your friend. If you let him know and he still wants to sell it at that price, that's cool. You did the right thing and he is hooking you up.

The w6 is a dual 4ohm which means you can run it at 2 ohms or 8 ohms. Trust me these subs can handle well over what they are rated at.

yea he is aware. i understand where you are coming from. i wouldnt do him dirtylike that. i already told him im going to be selling just the amp for about the same amount im buying the setup. honestly he just wants some extra cash. his sister doesnt want the setup nor does he.

edit: forget what i said about looking for 4ohm amps only. so a 2ohm would be best for spl correct?
