i was wondering if sumone could tell me if there is really much of a difference in these 2 subs mostly SPL wise thanks

12W7 JL Audio 12" SVC Subwoofer

13W7 JL Audio 13.5" DVC Subwoofer

and which ever sub i get will it run off a ed nine.1 amp thanks

i also have a similar question. which combo would you guys pick for SQL (sealed box)? please do not recommend other subs/amps, pick only from these choices:

JL 500/1 JL 10" W7

JL 500/1 JL 13" w6v2

JL 500/1 JL 12" w6v2

well, the cone area is a big duh, the resonent frequency of the 12 is 44.7 hz, the 13" has a resonent of 40.8 hz... I have had the pleasure of listening to both subs...*used to install them* the 12 hits very very hard and clean... its not really a SPL sub, the 13 however, in a ported box, on 1000 watts of power, will hit extremely hard... I put a single 13 on a 1000/1 in a 95 ranger, and metered it @ 141.3 DB... firing up... firing back into the wall, it hit 145..... all and all I think the only difference to the 12 vs 13 is that the 12 is more a SQ Sub... the 13 is very much a SQ and DB sub... just an expensive one...

13 w6 on a 500 sounds okay, needs more power to pound... the 10"w7 on the 500 would hit very nice as well as a 12 w6v2... now, w6 vs w7 is basically simple... w7 is both sq and db sub, w6 is more of a sq sub...

yes there is a difference between the 12" and the 13.5" versions. as far as the SQ setup goes i would look into the W6v2 line and as for a SPL setup (as far as JL goes) the 13W7 ported with a 1000/1 on it will knock your socks off if done properly. it is jsut a super expensive setup.

I'd put a 1000/1 on that W7 but that's just me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
that is lil bit of overkill don't you think? I mean I like the 1000/1 just as much as the other guy, but a 500 would do well enough... and the fact that all the slash amps have the BEQ on them... the only diff would be power... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

ok well wat jl sub 12" or bigger should i get and what amp should i get im willing to spend 350 on the amp and like 700 for the sub i want a jl sub for sure idc about the amp just one in that price range that will power my sub good thanks

I used to not like the SQ of the W7, but after fiddling with my friend's 12W7 in the prowedge sealed enclosure, I've realized that it is just an amazing woofer.

IMO other subwoofers just cannot match its low frequency energy, what I love about its SQ compared to other woofers is that it will just engulf your entire body with bass without any localization. You just can't tell where its coming from unless your crossover is set way too high for the dub7.

Of course all this talking is coming from one install i heard in the sealed enclosure specifically designed for the woofer.

If anyone hasn't heard the W7 properly setup in that sealed ProWedge... I suggest you do, it really is amazing and will show you what the woofer is all about. It will punch, shake, annihilate, anything you want it to with barely any localization.

So my .02 cents on the JL matter would be to just get the 13W7 and be done with it. You'll have to be a real retard to break that monster, and if you tune it right... it will sound amazing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok well personally id rather have the 13w7 anyway so thats wat ill get but now i need to know a good amp for it thats in the $350 range that will power it good

btw can sumone give me a link to the site that sells the 13w7 the cheapest i just went on like 8 diff sites and the cheapest i saw was 679.00 so if anyone knos sumwhere cheaper besides ebay let me kno thanks

so your spending ~$700 for a sub and you want to pay $350 for an amp????? get your priorities straight....
His priorities are straight, amp is one of the least determining factors in an install... and 350$ is more than enough to get a GOOD amp that will put out the power he needs.

Actually its the guys who spend $700 on an amp and 350 for speakers that have their priorities backwards. The best amp in the world wont make crappy speakers sound good.

For example, he could buy a used PG Tantrum 1200.1 (approx 1500 watts) for less than 350. Good amp in my book, plenty for that sub (hmmm if the impedances match... too lazy too look, but point still stands). Just because he wants a $700 sub doesn't mean he has to go out and buy an overpriced JL 1000/1 too.

edit: hundreth beat me to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
