I've owned more than a few of the old Kicker ZR series...they are beasts for sure but they tend to not like 2ohm mono. The only time I've run a 2ohm mono successfully on a ZR series was running an Audiomobile MASS at 2ohms on a ZR240...thing kept shutting down after maybe a 1/2 hour or so of running hot(and the ZR's do run hot). I eventually replaced the bottom plate of the amp with plexi and I mounted 2 small fans to the plexi(one pulling air in, the other blowing air out). After that she ran at 2ohm no problemo. For that reason alone I would recommend the W7. It has a single 3ohm coil and Kicker suggested running the ZR's at 2.66ohms. Plus 750-800rms sounds about right for a 10W7 and might not be enough to get the full potential out of the SWX. Also there were significant changes to the the second gen SWX. There is a review floating around somewhere on the interweb that really digs into the differences. I'm at work so I can't do too much googling around to find it. The highlights were a lighter/stiffer cone and they extended the pole piece to create a larger magnetic gap which kept the coil in the gap during the entire stroke, similar to an underhung design. There were a few other things as well but it's been a while since I read the article. Do some poking around and you'll find it.
