Jews have been persecuted for thousands of years primarily b/c Judas betrayed Jesus (who was also a Jew), and b/c the Jews were responsible for bringing the charges against Jesus that led to his crucifixtion.

B/c basically if you read the Bible, you know that Pontius Pilate washed his hands of the whole deal but the Jewish leaders screamed for Jesus to die, so the Jews have always carried the responibility for his death.

So coming from someone who is Italian and Jewish...

Jews got messed with for betraying Judas. That was followed by being the original bankers in Italy. Being that the Jews were being persecuted by the Italians for the whole Jesus thing and it being "unchristian" to charge interest back in the day pretty much the only job Italians would let Jews do it run banks that the Italians owned (very convenient hypocrisy). That is where the greed came in.

As for Italians in America. There was a lot of racism in the early 20th century. Americans did not want them here. Today they have assimilated so much that there really isn't an Italian community anymore. Very rare that you find full blooded Italians. And Jews and Italians tended to work together in the Mafia. Guys like Meyer Lansky and Bugsy Siegel were pretty powerful.

And I totally did not realize the point of this thread. Anyway I don't think Italians got messed with because they are a major proponent of Catholicism. They have reprented for their sins.
