That sounds like its gonna ****. You most definitely are gonna loose some weight. I am actually going to get my jaw unwired next week. Busted up nearly my entire face when I hit a tree while riding a dirt bike. Lower jaw broken in 3 places as well as my upper jaw broken, nose broken and minor fracture under the right eye, along with a separated pelvis which luckily I didn't need surgery on. The put plates and screws all around my chin and I guess we able to push the 2 other sides of my jaw in and get everything held in place along with being wired up. I've been wired since May 6th and had the accident on April 26th. I was 205lbs when it happened and now I am down to about 175 thanks to giving up on soda/sugar and being stuck on a liquid diet. Ensure and Boost shakes are probably what you will be living on unless you want to be more creative. Also gotta use a mouthwash 3 times a day and a water pic to get whatever junk out, you can't lick your lips so they get dry all the time (vasaline is good for this) OH and worst of all, you can't lick envelopes to pay your bills lo.
Best of luck, doctors are pretty good nowadays should have you all fixed up and as good as new in no time. Hopefully it won't take you as long to recover as me and you'll get back to eating steak in no time, I know I sure am looking forward to a nice juicy steak. OH and milk it if ya can lol, my buddies promised me a nice steak dinner when I get better, parents, buddies parents, and grandparents, so I sure am looking forward to loosing these braces and wires.
