Ive noticed that alot of people say support the local car audio shops

I always try and have locals support shops that support the area. I try and go in to see pricing and the general knowledge of the shops. I'm still in the process of that in OKC, but I have yet to be impressed with any actually..some pawn shops were better places to go haha.

Nobody around here is worth a shiz. We have Mickey Shores, Extreme Car Audio, and BB. Extreme car audio charges 300+ for a 4.5 cube box with your standard slot port. They sell stinger at $6 a foot for some 4 gauge wire. The only thing they have going for them is window tint and remote starter installation.

The local MS is actually alright. I went to school with 3 of their 5 employees and they know what they are doing for the most part. They build nice solid boxes, they cut nice deals if your a regular, you can roam the install bay and check out whats going on, etc.

Same here. Use to be two shops (one went out of business).
The one that is left are total crooks. Would not even honor factor warranty for a Kicker amp they installed.

The thing I keep in mind is: I am into car audio as a hobby and they are in it to make money.

if i was to tell a customer i wouldn't warranty there factory warranty item thats IN WARRANTY i would risk losing them as a supplier, thats nuts to do business like that..

Yeah my local shop is just full of winners. One tried to tell me that he knew all about how much watts an amp would really produce...didn't bother to even ask him how he got this, but I told him I had a MA Audio HK602sx that is rated 3600watts rms...he says he's never heard of it. I lol a little bit because right after telling he's never heard of it he asks me about the fuse rating....he's lucky I looked at the guts already the only place you can see the fusing. I told him theres 6x40amp fuses. He punches some numbers on a calculator and winds up with the number 1700 he tells me this is what my amplifier will truly produce.....anyone know how his crazy mind/math came up with that retarded number? Anyway I lost some respect for the shop there. Then I told him I was looking at some custom fiberglass work for some 7" drivers. He gets the installer, I changed my mind a little bit about the shop cuz the installer seemed to actually know what he was talking to me about..when he said you need more midbass eh? I was like yay he gets that much then he wanted to discuss sound stage with me and after he said that I was like OK decent guy here. So I might go back there. I guess that can prove to ya the highschool kid behind the sales counter can be a super idiot and the installer can still be cool.

I am in des moines. There is Ford and Garland downtown. They have some guys that know their stuff but also some younger guys that I wasnt impressed by. I called in asking about xs power batteries and one of the guys there who has been there for a while said he had never heard of them buy he would check it out online. He brought up jegs and said oh yeah i can order it for you from them and then you can come pick it up here. Figured that was a waste of time so I just bought it from jegs myself. They have been around for a while but they do remote starts and alarms my boss actually uses them when someone comes to us for that kind of stuff. like i said, if i need something right away i will buy it there otherwise i will order online. They are nice people, willing to answer if you have a question but as soon as i start mentioning what i run and some other brands they seem clueless. They dont bash the companies directly but they do say jl would sound better or someother brand they carry.

Where is accurate auto trim? Im pretty familiar with ames...I used to go to cyclone audio but not even sure if that is around still, havent been there in a while.

its in marshalltown iowa. It is the pawn shop they are the only place in town that has speaker stuff and does installs. I have botten lots of guns from them and they still treat me like ****.

I need to find that shop in Ames. I have goen to Ford and Garland and they were pretty awesome think i might get my alarm installed there.

My local car audio guy is great. I think it is because he used to compete when he was younger and is in the Meca hall of fame. He not only knows anything about a car or boat, but explains to you what he is talking about. Both the owner and the installer know everything about anything electrical in a car, boat, or house. These guys truly care about their customers are happy. I have seen numerous times a customer will bring in some crappy wal-mart stuff or ebay stuff in to be installed and they will warn them about the quality in the stuff they are putting in there car and not to try and make a sale, but just because it is going to break fairly fast.
