hoodliner goes on the metal pannel of your hood.

it absorbs sound and heat, check make there less engine noise to come in to the cabin, and less heat to mess up your hoods paint

if it reduced engine noise..then i'll email you for the contest thing. old cars have noisy engines exaust i'm not too worried about.
