Is this safe???

So I just installed a new head unit in my buddies Navigator but we have ran into a tiny "problem". He is installing two amps and there is only 1 remote turn on wire coming from his harness (duh). He doesn't want to buy a relay. I told him that two amps should be fine for one head unit. I soldered two remote wires together and then soldered that one wire to the head unit harness wire. Is this safe or should I have soldered by the amps?

You should be fine, but like they said above...a simple jumper from amp1's rem input to amp2's rem input would have been easier.

Your Hu should be fine switching 2 amps, but a $3 relay will be an easy add-on.

I've ran two amps on one remote turn-on wire for years and no problems, done a lot of installs using the same method without an issue either.

However there is a max mA draw rating from the headunit so you don't want to exceed that, so I wouldn't hook up more than two things that needs a remote turn-on wire. Right now I'm running three amps and I have to sequentially turn them on because the headunit can't turn all of them on at once.
