Depends where they measured the Damping Factor! In the late 80s and early 90s both Orion and Rockford Fosgate used to report Damping Factor at the circuit board NOT the speaker leads!

Even the Orion 280 GX that I am about to put in my girlfriend's vehicle has a damping factor of greater than 2,000... Too bad they don't say where:laugh:

Yes it is real, it was a statement piece by orion to show how silly the amp rating game was getting. Things haven't really changed much since then though. Companies still bs rate amp to fit them in comp classes.
