is this normal?

Did you possibly have the dmm on the wrong settings? I'd say find a step by step guide to setting a gain with a dmm Even if you think you know how. And start at 1 and move along, see what happens. Gotta be something simple.

Also with that new box, maybe your not used to the flatter response. Was your old box very peaky?

i did follow a step by step guide, multiple in fact. and my old box was a prefab box so it was probably tuned somewhere in the 40's
