is this legal?

i bought an h/u from a small local shop who claims is an authorized dealer ( he stated this to me when i asked if he was authorized). when my h/u broke, i tried to return it to him after a couple of days (3) , he said he didnt have anymore instock. he claims he cant order another b/c he is having "issues" with this manufacturer. he would not refund my money. i send unit to manufacturer to get fixed and i they say they wont honor the warranty because i did not buy it from an authorized dealer.....

so basically, i am stuck. what can i do legally?

you could try to take either the shop or the manufacturer to court...but i wouldnt expect much out of it.

yeah maybe small claims court but that would cost more, i think you got screwed, do you have a contract stating anythign he said or any proof

if i were you i would smear his name al over my town---as long as you say only things that are truthful he has recourse against you.. this happened in our town and once the word got out to enough ppl he had to close shop.

also look to see if he has any "authorized dealer" stickers in his windows or doors then call the manufacturer to see if he is or not. if not take a picture and recontact that manufacturer---i'm sure they will be pleased.
