Is this is a good deal? Alpine SPR-13S 5-1/4" component speaker system at Crutchfield Signature

Yeah, that's a good deal, and since it comes from Crutchfield who is an authorized dealer, you don't have to worry about being cheated by some random internet dealer.

Basic answer to the crossover question, others on here could get into more specifics. Basically though its used to separate the hi frequency (your voice, or what comes out of the tweeter) from your mid frequency (The mid bass as they call it) for a better separation of sound and staging. They always come with component speakers.
