Is this fixable???

I bought these kicker subs couple years back used and always noticed this sticky substance around the outer edges of the sub....I had these hoked up in my caddy for the last couple of months on a stockd electrical with 4 gauge wire going to the amp and they played fine....yesterday I added a C&D battery and upgraded to 1/0 wire and basically added some real power to these subs and I was playing them pretty loud today and then all of a sudden they started sound ****ed up and looked at them and the surround was blowing out...if I turn the gain down and dont play it so loud they play ok but Is this fixable? or do I need new subs??

some RTV might fix it, its worth a try for $5 im guessing those are CVRs?

Honestly. I would upgrade subs anyway. Those arnt the best. I guess something flexible but strong could fix them though.

Yeah they're probably not worth a recone so I'd just throw some glue in there and see what happens. The worst that can happen is it doesn't work and you have to chuck em.

I guess it depends on how involved you want this to be. It would probably be better to clean it all off but I probably wouldn't....

i would say clean it off and use RTV silicone because it will be cheaper than glue shouldnt take more than like 15 minutes but let it dry over night, bubbagumper is right the worst that will happen is you need to get new ones anyways

yeah i can understand that.......these subs sound like shit anyway.....however its in the wifeys car and having the gain turned down satifies her.....HOWEVER its when i get in there and wanna crank it up its a whole different thing....so Ill give the rtv a try and see what happens

actually use ca glue but clean the old glue off first. ca glue work great on rubber (only ) surrond. becarefull not to missalign the coil....

My brother and I have done this to tons of junk/cheap subs, liquid nails makes a silicone for bonding rubber and foam, use that to put the surround back on, then use RTV to cover the actual surround, it will look ghetto but holds up awesome,
