is there a way for me to do this?

I have a car stereo that I listen to at home with a power inverter, and I want to take it on road trips and want a way to power it with out having to run wires to the car battery. could I buy a Car battery and just connect it to the battery? And is there a way that I can rig up a connection to connect a set of headphones so I don't bother other passengers in the car?

that's a waste when you can just buy an ipod and listen to that. what's so special about this stereo that makes you want to put a battery in the cabin (extremely dangerous) just to rig it up and listen to it???

Get a universal 12 volt plug from radio shack and wire it threw your cigarette lighter plug. As for the headphones it is illegal to have headphones on while driving but I will tell you how anyway. buy a headphone splitter just a rely cheep one and cut one off from the splitter one of the female ends that is and make sure to give yourself plenty of slack. After cutting it slice into the wires there should be 4 wires in their connect two to front left and two to front channel right might take a few tries but you will figure it out. Or instead of doing all this crap buy an ipod the best music player out there.

Ok yes that is what I need to do thank you bigaudiofanatic. This is to use when my parents are driving and I want to listen to a radio station that they don't want to, that is where I need the headphone jack. I appriciate the help

No problem and you also might want to get a cheep walmart universal antenna as well. Shoot you could also get a radio tuner for an ipod which would be a heck of a lot easier.
