Is the Price Right??

I'm getting a new system installed on Thursday in my '05 Scion tC. The price, including installation, worked out to $1700 - does this seem high for what I'm getting (keeping in mind that the shop doing the install is regionally known for creating high-end competition systems)?

Eclipse 3434 Head

JL VR650 csi front components

Diamond D3 Series 4 Channel Amp

Diamond CM3 Series 10" Woofer

Plus sub box, wires, harness and custom carpet cutting for sub in back.

Any feedback would be appreciated as I'm new to car audio - had some cheap infinity references in my old car.

I think its too high.

You could shop around and pull together a lot better of a system for cheaper, bring it all to Earmark, car toys or tweeter and pay their hefty installation fee and it still be cheaper. If not cheaper- it would be a lot better.- Matt

Its a bit high- I've got a guy in NJ that can beat that and he's authorized

did you pay that yet? I can save you a few hundred

my system will cost me 1500 for everything.

I might let this place near me install it, i can do it, but i just hate snaking wires, especially 1/0 gauge! Hey i had infinity references and they sounded great for 100! What box are you getting for the 10? Box is everything!

u fig.....((these are pretty close estimates to what you should be paying)

~$299 for the Eclipse

~350-380(the most) for the 400.4

~ Diamond CM3 subs are on special for a fact ...but a guess ~150-200

~ Jl VR ~$200

~ $50-60 for a prefab

~ $100 4g wiring kit + RCA's

the rest goes to their pocket for install- ~3-4hr job

Thanks for the breakdown in price - it's a pain to find legit prices for some of the higher end audio equipment. Soundsource is where I had scheduled to have the stuff installed. Has anyone heard of it?

Yeah, I heard of Soundsource- but you already know where I go for high end;)

BTW- the 400.4 is a very sweet amp(all D3's are)- my lil' bro is saving his pennies for one actually

I'd like to see you pay no more than $50 at the most for a kit. Even from a shop that's just stupid expensive --- almost worse than the Monster stuff @ Circuit City or whatever.

That was more of an estimate of what that shop was raping him for.....
