Suicidal is selfish, but you have to actually be suicidal to understand why a person would want to do it. Many people don't understand the pain involved to drive a person to commit that act. It's a lot harder to do than many people think.

One of my sister's coworkers...Her recently divorced husband just burnt down her house purposefully, with him and five out of six of her kids. This was two weeks after he got arrested for throwing an iron at her.

I'd have a hard time seeing any potential in life after I lose every material object and nearly everyone in my family in one fell swoop. Put herself in your shoes, and imagine that you had just gotten out of an abusive marriage, and shortly after the bastard blows up your house with 5 of your six kids in it.

People don't understand the mind state of of suicidal people. Most people cannot even begin to grasp the amount of pain they feel, simply because it's impossible to. Pain is perceived worse than it actually is, so much worse.
