i was just looking at there power series amps, and on their official website it says that their T3002, which is rated as a 300 watt amp when at a 2 ohm load bridged, is not correct. That looking at the rated watts is incorrect, and they have an actual rating as well, and for this amp, they say the average actual wattage output in that setup is 838 watts? is that for real? and its not just that amp, they say all their power series amps have lik 30-50% more actual wattage than what is rated.

Yes. The new RF power series amps are underrated by a generous amount.

Though that "actual power" number on their website is an average. Which obviously means some will be higher, but some will also be lower. You may get one that does 650w, while your buddy gets one that does 850w.

havnt the RF amps always been underrated as weve seen from the old school RF amps

The birth sheets on my punch 3002 the peak power out put 1137 @ 14.4volts, but I think that would be at like one ohm or someting but i have it brigded at 4 ohms goin to a solo baric l5 and sounds good and powerful, not to mention it requires a 4 gauge wire.

There was a stint there where their Power series amps were *only* underrated by 5-10%........now they come in anywhere from 30%-75% underrated.

Though I've never really understood the point of underrating amplifiers. One company builds a 500w amp and calls it a 500w amp, while another company builds a 500w amp but calls it a 200w amp.......and then somehow company 2 is better than company 1 because of that.........

well my dad said way back in the day companys use to do that because of competition, they would make a 200w amp that did 500 to blow away the competition and etc with the other amps

Those would be the "cheater" amps....such as the old Orions or LP's.

But most formats today don't use rated power, but actual power. And even at 4ohm/ch those RF Power amps still surpass their rated power by quite a bit......so it doesn't really help anybody.
