is it safe to use a 300amp circuit breaker?

i just had my system installed a couple of days ago, ive had lots of systems and have never seen this and I questioned it but the MECP first class installer told me its fine but im not convinced.

in place of my inline fuse at the front battery, the installer put one of these in

300 AMP 12V CIRCUIT BREAKER FUSE PS82/300A: eBay Motors (item 400098436263 end time Jul-18-10 12:24:08 PDT)

he put a 0/1 gauge set screw terminal on both sides of the circuit breaker, is this safe?

AND!!! he did not put my amps on a fused distro block in rear...it goes from front Deka to rear Deka G31 and directly wired to the amps from that battery. It's been 5 years since my last install but i've always used fused distro blocks in the rear for obvious safety reasons and I'm very concerned right now.

As far as the breaker goes it should be fine it will trip if the wire shorts out and that is all it's for, as for the trunk there needs to be a second fuse at the battery (if the wire shorts out and the breaker trips the wire is still live from the rear battery and there will be a fire!)as for from the rear battery to the amps I wouldn't add a fuse there it's just more resistance

goingdef...thanks for the answer but I think im not seeing what you are describing, let me explain myself a little better, i hope this makes more sense

this is on the positive side of battery of course and cabling is all 300amp rated 0/1 gauge

battery 1 under hood -> goes to 300amp circuit breaker -> then goes to positive of battery 2 in cargo area of Tahoe -> from battery 2 positive side branches off to a 0/1 gauge to sub amp and 8 gauge to components amp

shouldn't there be a fused distro block between the rear battery and amps? Thanks in advance

There needs to be a breaker on the 0g at both ends to isolate the battery's in case of a short in this order front battery short piece of 0g-breaker-long run of 0g-breaker-battery in the trunk but the need to fuse from the battery in the trunk to the amps is not needed unless you roll with sharp heavy objects flying around your trunk, think of it this way if you unhook the 0g off the breaker up front and touched the engine compartment it would shower sparks and catch fire there is no way to isolate it from the rear battery without a second fuse at the rear

Eh that's not true. There doesn't need to be a breaker on either end of the same power wire. The second one really serves no purpose whatsoever.
