You can buy 1500 watt amps for under $300 now. An amp that size just 2 or 3 years ago would have cost 10X that.

Speaking of worthit. That Eclipse amp your thinking about is a sweet piece of equipment. I haven't seen too many amps with a VARIABLE SSF. I had one for about a year. Loved it to death. Your two Shivas ... $125 a piece ... find me a sub that sounds as good or better to you for equal or lesser price ... then tell me if it's worth it.

Price doesnt show how good the gear is. You can find alotta things for cheap. I wouldnt spend $300 for a amp either. its just amp. Get something that will give u what you want. But for a sub id go over $600 if needed. But then again if i bought a sub for that much id spend atleast that on a amp.

Price doesn't show how bad the gear is either. You can get a good solid 1500 watt amp for $300, or less.

Yeah you guys make good points. But its just aggrivating. For instance.. usually the better the quality... the louder the system. Why not quality with out being loud?

DA Hex's i hear are great, expensive as hell too.... whats wrong with that kinda quality not at 170watts? ill be surprised if i even push 70 watts to them.

Now ofcourse what is cheap now was expensive before.. its how it works.

And what about buying used.... the worse thing is u usually cant w.o fear of something bad is wrong with the speakers. I'd buy a used amp near any day, alteast u can tear that apart and fix it.

My sister's rich boyfriend gave me his DA 216's m3. one of the speakers had DENTS in it... i asked about it. He made some dumb excuse that the spliter was mouthed IN FRONT of the speaker and banged into it. wth?!he has a firebird... the look i gave him.. but it was for free.. worse part was.... i lost a tweeter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bawling.gif.6287aa5d1d447c8af063fc9466e822ef.gif , called the company about a replacement and its 100@$ ... what would u say!

As for the hobbies... i understand that. I am a computer nerd.. for the most part.. Over the course of 3-4 years i have spent 3000-4000 dollars on computer parts... right now i have 3 computers infront of me. all working and networked... infact i am working on it right now.. that is my hobbie.. but i can get quality parts and not spend a armand a leg. I usually dont spend more than 100$ on any single item. And like most other hobbies.. you can get the quality for a cheap price... and not goto a name brand power company and spend twice the amount.

im also a computer nerd and thats not ENTIRELY true =P i would be willing to spend~ $300 for a processor\ram\videocard and ~120 for a motherboard... the rest of the crap in a computer is of low consaquence to me... cdroms, harddrive, soundcard, networks...

As a fellow computer nerd, I can say that I totally understand where all these car audio guys are coming from. It's the same deal with the guys that upgrade their graphics cards or what not every six months, so that their framerates don't drop below 60fps at 1600x1200 w/4xAA and AF. But, in the end, you kinda have to ask yourself how much of a difference will you be able to tell. In my case, I can tell a difference. I'm a musician. I've been trained to hear better than most people. That, and I've been through enough BS with $hitty companies to know that in almost everything, you get what you pay for. Of course, you have exceptions like the Shiva and whatnot, but 9 times out of 10, the better product will be more expensive. Regardless, the point is that if it really matters to you, you'll listen to your wallet and your ears, and ask yourself whether or not it's really worth it. For me, it is. Hence why I'm buying the best I can afford. If I have to wait, then I wait. I earn enough to do what I want to do on my terms, and go for it.
