Is it OK to use 4 guage on KX1200.1?

I used 4 ga for a couple of years because it was already installed from my other amp. When I put it in my truck I upgraded to 0. Why do you want to use just 4 ga? Its better to do the 0 if you havent already ran the wire

Are you running an amp for mids and highs as well?..or do you plan to? If so, I would run 1/0 from the battery to the distro block, then you can run the 4ga to the Kicker, and whatever size is required for the other amp.

Even if that is the only amp, I would still recommend using at least a 2 ga, unless you have an extra battery in the back, and it's a very short run. Here is a recommended power wire size chart:

I agree on that. I was just saying if he already has it and wants to run it for awhile because of the added expense than it could be done. Not the best though.

You'll be fine with 4awg. IF that's your only amp.

Just so you know get your wire here, Welding Supply This is the cheapest place that we have found wire, and it willl hold up the same as the 4.00 a foot stuff, local shops are willing to charge you.

my man at the local car audio shop says i can switch out the 4awg to the 1/0awg and just pay the difference so i think im going to run the 1/0 to the trunk then the rest 4. this sound like a good idea?

It depends on what the difference is, It will probably be a lot. At that website I gave you, you can get brand new 1/0 cable for 1.35 a foot. That is a great deal. So just compare prices, and see what you come up with.

I used 1/0~Red & Black *Welding cable for the *Big Three* and will be using it for Power and Ground for all of my Kicker~ZR/ZX old school amps:naughty: . At the time, it was much cheaper for me to buy welding cable as compared to Car Audio Cable.It's your call.You have to make that choice.All the Best.
