Is 35hz good for Rockford T2 sub? or recommended 40hz?

rockford subs are notorious for the 45 hz hump they have. its amazing how many people confuse deep bass with alot of output. 35 should be fine for a little more sq but the higher tunning freq should get louder

I own a Rockford T2 sub (2000w) and Rockford recommends 40hz for tunning... will that be fine or should I tune it to 35hz?... I listen hip-hop most of the time... and what will be the best tunning I have a 2.5ft3 box

The most likely scenario is that sub/box combo in the real world while end up being tuned around 34 Hz.

When designing a vented box super subs, or any sub for that matter, designers must compensate for what happens when delivered power reaches the subs voice coil and it's static T/S parameters shift.

In fact if you look at JL's recommended 1.75 cu. ft 32 Hz enclosure for the 12W7 on their website and check the actual tuning of the box you will notice its tuned 6 Hz higher than 32 Hz. This and subs like the Titaniums' or others of that caliber are the extreme case. However, most sub in practice will tune about 3 Hz lower than designed.

Long story longer, try to follow manufacturers recommended designs as the often know what the affects of real power flowing through the voice coils is on their woofer better than we do!
