I bought a new (2g) iPod Touch today and it won't interface with my Pioneer 4000 UHB. I fear that the new one might not be supported, my old iPod works just fine... are there any workarounds?

Second generation, not 2gig. The original is a 5.5g video. Buying an even MORE expensive unit (with no guarantees that even that will work) is stupid. There must be some kind of adapter somewhere...

Does you're unit have a 3.5mm auxilary jack on it? if so, use that.

if it has an auxilary RCA adaptor on the back, get an adaptor wire that goes from an RCA plug to a 3.5mm headphone jack

you may also want to check the pioneer website for firmware updates. i dont know if there are updates for the single DIN units, but my touch wouldnt work with my nav until i updated the firmware.

well most units work with the touch the only thing they dont do is charge the unit, this is so you can still use the other functions, it will do the same thing with tht iphone

im in the same boat.

i just bought a 32g i touch. i have a JVC DUB DIN (kw-avx800) and due to the fact the headunit was built before the i touch was made my i pod will not interface with the dub din.

now my buddy has the JVC DUB DIN (kw avx810) and his i touch works perfect with his headunit..

so in order for me to get the ipod to interface with my deck, i need to upgrade to a newer model JVC, or pioneer ect ect..

sucks but what can you do?

how does the wifi on that thing work? do you have to pay to connect or is it like as long as your within a wifi signal it will let you acess the internet??
im not sure on paying to connect..

but the wi fi works great on it. pretty cool if you ask me

ok well just for refrence i just got off of the phone with alpine and they are coming out with an adapter for the touch so it will be able to charge and still retain the interface, but like everyone said the older units probably wont work with the new touch

so you dont have to pay, you can acess the internet for free aslong as you are within a wifi signal??? i.e: starbucks ????
like i said i never paid attention or have recived a bill yet but i dunno if the internet is free..

i pick up my next door nighbor's wifi for free. and burger kings.. ha
