ipod quieter than cd

on my jvc HU when I have my ipod in the aux port it is much quieter than when it is a cd. But, also at the same volume on the HU when it is quieter on the iPod, the clipping indicator on my gain knob(AQ) will never light up. When the ipod is in, on most songs I can turn the gain all the way up and sometimes still not even have it blink. Whats going on here? Could it just be the music on the iPod? or is it the device/method of output themselves?

its a source level input found on alpines, pioneers, and some kenwoods, it allows you to get a better signal from the source playing the music.. and ur ipods eq settings are off...I use to change mine when I would go to the gym and not change it back, then I would hook it up in the car and it would sound weaker. That was the reason

yeah i have a jvc, and would you run it in your car with the eq flat?

I'm pretty sure it is due to the voltage being lower from the ipod through the unit than from the units own source. Every unit I've used has done this when not using the actual ipod cord or usb port.

ebay and amazon has a ipod docking to 3.5mm. The output is stronger and cleaner than using the headphone jack on the Ipod. The dock also removes the built in eq.

On my Pioneer 3200-bt my Ipod though usb is about the same as the cd and radio. My XM through the aux is very quiet. I around town HU volume is 12, highway is 14, and passengers wanting to talk is 8-10 for all other sources. they are all leveled at 0 no retarding or boosting the volume. My AUX level source level is maxed out at 6 and still have to turn the volume up 2 higher and still lacking. The xm unit itself has the output volume maxed as well.

My Bluetooth volume is terrible. I have to max out he volume on the HU and the radio phone volume setting to hear the caller.
