IPod connection

I have recently purchased a car with a Pioneer SPH-DA160DAB radio and am having difficulty connecting/playing my IPod Classic. I have connected it to the radio via the USB lead that connects to the back of the radio and the IPod has connected to the radio so that I can see the songs listed on the radio screen. The songs are playing however I cannot hear anything. The radio volume is turned up as is the IPod volume and both the IPod and radio work normally. My question is do I need to attach a Aux lead from the IPod to the back of the radio? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The Ipod cable is the only connection needed. I am assuming all other formats play as they should (AM/FM), did you check the Source Volume in the settings? For this radio I use a Microsoft Display Adapter to mirror my phone as well.

Thanks for the advice. I've tried the fixes but to no avail. The IPod songs are listed on the radio and I can see the music playing but there is no sound. Maybe it just doesn't like my music!!

I had to go from the headphone jack to an rca converter and plug into the back of my head unit. My old iPod won’t directly connect on any of my head units.
