Inverting my 15" Q

I want to try inverting my 15" Fi Q in my 2.1cu ft sealed box. What do I have to change (on amp and headunit) if I want to do this?

Also, I have a setting on my pioneer headunit that says "inverted and non inverted".

I didn't think things had to be changed...

just invert the sub from my understanding...

but I have only seen a few inverted setups...

I thought you might have to change the "phase" on the amp from 0 to 180.

Any thoughts on this and the HU setting?

you dont have to change anything, it should all be the same.

if it's a single sub, (I could be wrong..) it can't get out of phase...

If you want it to sound equal to the way it did mounted normally... switch the phase.

Do only ONE of the following to switch the phase:

1. When hooked up to amp... reverse the positive and negative wires.

2. Switch phase via HU.

3. Switch phase via amplifier (If equipped).

I guess I will just change the Headunit setting, which is "reverse" since it's the easiest.

What does switching the phase do? Does the sub move the opposite way?

Yes.

Therefore, when inverted... if you use the box itself as a reference... the cone will still move OUT/IN accurately in reference to the song.

I just figured that there wouldn't be a big difference..

It's not a huge deal if you have a single sub setup... 0/180 degrees. One way usually sounds better than the other.

Like I said, if he wants it to be equivalent to what it was when he had it mounted normally... he will want to reverse the phase.
