Inverted motors

Sparks mean its working!
Is there anyone on here that could do it? I want a decently high-powered woofer (1000-1500w dual 2) but am working in the very limited space behind the seat of my Std. Cab s10

Cool idea though...

Bracing would actually be easier than bracing for a traditional style woofer, because you are for the most part "wrapping" the cone around the motor. It's easy to keep equidistance from surround to motor, not to mention reducing flex by "pulling" the cone rather than pushing it. (try to push a pencil in a straight line, then repeat pulling it)

I wonder if it's acoustically less efficient due to the inverted cone shape. It might end up just dispersing the sound wave in all directions and losing output from the listening point. Definitely something to consider, though I don't have the manufacturing tools available to build a working model ATM.

The part where that idea falls apart the earliest is where you forgot that a subwoofer goes posative and negative, not simply posative only to return back to neutral.

So mounting a motor infront would not be better for keeping travel lineral, because you wouldn't really change anything except the phase.
