How many of you think that you are covered for your staereo stuff just because it's bolted to the car?

in light of a lot of recent events here, it seems like getting additional coverage would be a good thing. so i called the, to get my glass replaced as there is a chip in the window, and i added that coverage called "Custom Parts and Accessories" coverage.

only thing that they care about is that it has to be bolted to the car itself.

state farm here and im covered in my policy insurance lady told me keep pictures and to try to keep receipts but they werent needed if i had pictures and that it was bolted down.

i dunno if it cost's extra but i pay $82 a month for

comprehensive

collision

liability

towing

and medical insurace for my 3 year old son

and 0 deductibles on the car dunno about my sons lol

$900 a year for a 17 year old and all that isnt bad.

most likely you got different coverage then i.

but when she checked my stuff out i had 2 amps 2 subs and cd player and changer about 4 grand of stuff. i told her i was gonna add more stuff and she said i didnt have to do anything it would be covered

but what im thinking if all the stuff does get stolen that cost more then 50% of the truck then maybe the truck becomes salvage???

It's $50 per $100 coverage on accessories here.

An extra $83 per month to cover $2000 worth of stereo equipment that you must have receipts for, pictures of, and be able to prove it was bolted directly to the vehicle.

Stereo theft isnt big here because everyone knows everyone and if someone is found out they will get the piss beat out of them by whomever.

i have insurance with farm bureau and they they told me that i cant get anything to cover it, but that it might be covered in our homeowners insurance. I didnt understand it at all, but i think it means im fu***d if i ever get jacked.

i read all of my policy it even covers clothing left in the car, suit cases,cash, and other things i cant renember lol its been over a year that i switched to state farm

Same here - I live in a good area so I'm lucky.

I think the base coverage on accessories on the full coverage plan was something silly like $100 or $200 ... I can't remember the exact number - I was pretty pissed off at the time when I found out that my base coverage did not even cover half of my head unit.

It is possible.

I know my parents had something similar with their homeowners insurance policy - it covered a lot more than just the home and the furnishings.
