installing sub in house

I was told if I installed my sub in a house, the ohms would be all different, and it would burn itself out, anyone know if this is true, also any web sites on what I would need to do it, and stores which sell thease things. I would like to hook up my 15" orion h2

most home audio is 8 ohms, although some is 4 ohms. well car audio is all over the place but not usually 8 ohms. you just need to find a plate amp for whatever final impedence your sub wires to. check http://www.partsexpress.com
