Installing Sub and amp on pre-wired car

I like to read stories with happy endings. I never get that lucky. Glad it worked out for you. The positive is you just learned how to do your first install. The negative is, its addictive.

**** Radridd, u jinxed me, lol. i went out to pick up my girl from work and the subs were working, about 20 min into the drive i noticed that the base had reduced so i pulled over and checked the subs and noticed that they're no longer bumpin. nothing is coming out of it. im not sure what the problem is, could the subs be dead?

note: the amps and sub have been in my moms car, active, for about 6 years, plus whatever time the previous owner had them.

the power light on the amp is still on, how can i troubleshoot this problem?

any ideas on what issue i posted previously may be???? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

k im still not getting much help with this woofer issue, so i'll just ask questions:

is it possible for a subwoofer to just "die"?, say it was blown out, should it be dead silent?

If you hooked the wires to the L+ and R+ than that is your problem. Don't know why it would work before or if that is a typo on your part, but if not try hooking the sub to the + and - of the same channel or if possible the bridged channels of your amplifier. Also it is possible that your sub may have died or a channel on your amp blew if that was a typo.

thanks, i'll try that out tomorrow, it wasnt a typo, the subs were working with L+ R+. how does one know the different channels?, on an early post i posted the terminals of the amp, are the channels the front and rear set of terminals?

i tried putting the speaker wires on R+ L-, L+ R-, on both rear and front terminals, none of them are giving me outputs on the sub, so maybe the sub is dead, the amp powers on but still no sound from the sub, is there any way i can make sure its the sub and not the amp?

doyou have a DMM? put (+) onto (+) and (-) into (-) and see if it gets a signal i think its the amp. can you push the sub in and if so does it make a rubbing noise like the coil is burnt?

not exactly sure what a DMM is, im assuming its a meter to read the voltage or current from the amps terminals, i wish i had one, i'll have to look around and see if i can find a cheap one.
