Installing sub/amp in cars that already have stock amp/sub

I am very new to the audio world, please help!

I have an 04 TL, I'm getting a JL 8w7 with this amp link! all while keeping the stock head unit, how do I go about this? My car already has a stock sub and amp, I have heard to just cut the wires on the stock sub and hook it up to the sub, by getting a low level output convertor . This part I think I can manage with a friend.

How do I approach the amp?

Does my stock amp connect to all the speakers and stock sub? If it does will the amp(Link above) be able to connect to all the speakers?

I have also heard that you can use both the stock amp and af amp, so I guess all the speaker wires for the stock amp and af amp for the sub only?

Any help is appreciated but don't bash me and tell me to just go to a audio shop.

Depending on the thickness of the stock wire for the amp, you may not want to keep it. I could see Acura putting in 10 gauge wiring or something or minimum for your current stock setup.

Your deck also has to have a remote wire output. I don't know much about newer cars and their factory decks, but its the Blue wire.

Your gonna want to run 8 gauge wire from the battery to that amp.

Your speakers are probably not amplified.

Whats the af amp? :s

Aftermarket lol

Thanks for your reply, so would it be pretty straight forward in replacing the stock amp if the speakers are not amplified?

It would be a simple install either way.

Once you locate your amp, look at the outputs. - Where speaker wire comes out of.

If theres a lot of speaker wire coming out of the amp, its probably a 5-channel amp, and the speakers and sub would be amplified.

If theres just 2 speaker wires on output, the sub would be the only one amplified. (Then you take out the stock amp and replace it with the aftermarket amp)

So you could just take out the stock sub, unplug it from the stock amp.

Run a distribution block from behind the power of the stock amp, so you would have 2 amps wired in, ground them both separately.

Make sure your running at least 8 gauge power/ground wires though.

The amp your looking at on ebay is a good solid amp.
