Ok so I bought my self a Sirius tuner for christmas and im gunna be installing it tomorrow and im just wondering if theres anything I need to know. Where do I hook the power and ground up to should I just tap the HU power and ground or does it need to be another source?

BTW I have an alpine 7998, has anyone hooked sirius up to this the guy at bb told me that it couldnt be done and then the guy at tweeter said it could so I figured that I would give it a try.

Thanks in advance for the help!

He was right. The 7998 is only compatible with XM. If you want a AI-Net connection to a digital Sirius tuner it will not work. You can use a FM modulator to broadcast the signal inside the car while tuned into a low FM frequency but I assure you it will sound like pure a$$.

May have to get XM Dude.

Correct, your HU has AI-Net connector in the back however the HU is only made to work with XM. No way to hook it up "digital".

*edit* I would take back the Sirius tuner and go with XM. Unless you are willing to upgrade your HU just to listen to HOwArd //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yes you can run Sirius either with the above tuner or an aux unit through a aux input or built in FM modulator.

Alright well since it is snowing out I may not go out tonight and just try and install this instead... what do I do about the power and ground though tap the hu power and ground?

I had it on the dash then tried to mount it out side on the roof and still had no luck...
edit: I was outside not under anything
Should have a setup menu that gives you the signal strength. Mount it where its better (typically outside about 5 inches into the middle of a metal panel (they don't like you mounting it against the edge since I guess the roof/trunk acts as part of the antenae).
