Installing on the run

Is there a market for installers that provide the service at the customer's location.

I was thinking that it may be cheaper, easier, more convenient, etc. to have a business that would install equipment at the customer’s location and not have a store to have to stock and provide sales staff, etc. This would be primarily an installation service and some consultation. Would not have stock, would order what the customer needed or install equipment that they had ordered themselves.

Thinking of advertising in the newspaper, with auto dealers, and the like.

A shop I used to work at used a guy like that for a backup installer. I guess he used to work there too but he has his van with all his tools and would come out and install.
