hey guys i need your help, i purchased a TKO 12.5 flip down screen, and i wanna install it in my 03 Trailblazer Ext, (w/ moonroof)whats the best way to install it, some1 told me just to cut a hole and then through some wood up there and mount it to that, but, id rather take down the whole roof liner but if theres other ways, id like to try them, i dont want a ghetto install, what do you guys suggest, or to who has installed one, i dont wanna cut a big hole and then be screwed

The Trailblazer has a domelight in the middle. Take that out and theres your hole for the monitor wires. you still have to drill the 4-6 screws in but if you have any left over peices form past installs you can use those litle clips that screws go into. I use those on the top part of the headliner and it works great.

IIRC in that vehicle a little bit forward past the domelight is a metal brace traveling across the car. Screw the mounting bracket that came with your overhead to that metal brace making sure to check for clearence of the sunroof cover so as not to scratch it. Then screw the monitor to that.

mine trailblazer doesnt have the domelight behing the moonroof, its the ext and it has lights above each door, and it has climate controll

I think the wood idea would be the best. You sure dont want to have that thing installed and a screw that went to far through and when you pull that sunroof back you hear a big "RRRRIIIIIPPPPPP" Trust me, I know how it feels and it SUCKS!

I tried to get by with cheap labor and had a guy do it and he did it this way and it tore my sunroof cover to pieces. I would get some wood and get some double sided tape and screw it into the wood.

Hell if you dont want to cut a big hole you might get away with sticking the wood behind the headliner, it might work, it might not I havent done it. I just know the screws through the medal isnt a good idea at all.

using 3/4" self tappers i have never had that problem in any car. Double sided tape is not likely to hold the weight of an over head.
