Hello, I have recently bought a Audiovox VOD715 player and tried to hook it up by myself. I wired the unit to the dome light but unfortunaltely, I have wired it wrong so the unit only turns on when the door is open Since I know nothing about wiring, I would like to ask few silly questions 1) Do I have to install the device with the - terminal of the battery taken off? I just hooked it up without turning the battery off as I thought it wouldn't do any harm to the player. 2) When the wires are connected in a wrong way, eg + terminal to +, would it damage the player? Or would it simply not power up? These two questions were the ones that I wanted to be clear about Back to the main point,, There was three wires which came with the player. Black, Red, and Yellow. I believe Black is earth red is ACC+ and yellow is dome light. What I did was that when I took the dome light off the roof, I found two wires which initially connected to dome light. So using those two wires, I have hooked up earth wire with one of the wire from the roof and joined red and yellow wires together and hooked it up to another wire. (As there was only two wires on the roof) And at the end, after screwing whole player on the roof, I discovered it only powers on when the door is open So my question is,, do I have to get a ACC+ wire from the driver's side? If so, how can I get the wire all the way up? And how can I locate ACC+ wire from the driver side? Your help will be really appreciated.
