Installation help needed.

Hi. I have a 2003 Dakota...now I found a website that shows me how to remove and install the cd player/head unit.

But in teh directions it says on auto transmissions to set parking brake, insert key into ignition and shift to lowest gear.

Why is that?

And can I use an aftermarket cd player with factory speakers? I'm new at this so I've been asking alot of questions.

it could be that your shifter may be in the way when you go to remove your HU.
