I'm looking at the same budget as you right now.In my list, I have

1. Rainbow SLC 265.25

2. Diamond S600s

3. Hertz HSK 165

I don't know which to choose too lol

if cotton cones on woofers are efficient??? than i'd go with hertz165.

probably an infinite number since he is looking for someone to suggest the "ultimate" set of comps but has to be at a dirt cheap price. Since that combo doesn't exist, he may never stop ........

would it be less expensive in the long run to buy the ultimate comps, than to replace them every other year, but which ones to get, where to go and listen to them in person, heck man that's the real problem there isn't enogh venues that stock them so what to do but be like kranch and keep asking over and over until he get the answer he wants and even them he's in the back of his mind he will be asking himself if he got the best money could buy, so yeah I can relate, but hell lets take a poll of the best out there.

I have some cheap pioneers for fronts but i would think the best pioneers will produce a superior sound than most others.

just pick a set, if you feel you can't get them to sound the way you like, then sell them and try again. IMO with enough power and the right tuning i think most speaker sets can sound desirable.

Yeah, that's what I did. Went through like 4 sets including the rsd's before I found the pair I liked. Running the Rainbow SLC 265 and I couldn't be happier!

well looking for something with ok midbass but more less best for vocals and highs to hear the music
