In-Dash hook up

Sup, I was just wondering, I have a Pioneer AVX-P7000CD in-dash which I bought from a friend of mine awhile back cause he had his car broken into and all they got away with is the brain, and left the screen behind cause they couldn't get it out. So, I heard that if I don't buy the brain, I can get a regular headunit to power up the screen. I have a Pioneer Pioneer DEH-p8400mp and I was told that it would work, but I was wondering, what I would need to do to make it work exactly? Any help would be apprieciated..
