I am looking to get one and the two companies i am looking to buy from are alpine and pioneer any suggestions and/or experience with using in dash dvd headunits would be appreciated

I have no experience yet, but I have been researching double din units. I decided that the Alpine IVA-W200 + PXA-701 (~$1400 retail) processor is one of the best bang for the buck units with great visuals and tunability. But thats my opinion based on research and not personal use. I was also looking at the Eclipse AVN-6600 if you also wanted navigation (~2000 retail) if thats an option.

i am looking for strictly a in dash dvd player with no screen whatsoever the screen will be seperate

im pretty much looking to get an idea of if they are good units. If i had an mp3 cd in could i see my songs on the screen that i will have connected to the headunit

I don't have an mp3 player hooked up, so I can't answer that directly. It does show cd text on the screen. I have an Ipod, but don't have it hooked up yet so I'm not sure aboutwhat the screen will or won't show when it is connected.
