image dynamics 2x IDQ or 1X IDMAX. questions.

Any opinions? looking for great SQ but also decent output but does not need to be excessive for the daily.

I have 2 amps, 420rms at 2ohms each. If i got the IDMAX i would need to run one amp to each voice coil. Any disadvantages to doing this?

Also, if i got 2X IDQ i would want to fire one driver into the rear of my trunk and the other firing forward through my ski locker compartment which is almost 12". Any disadvantages to having drivers firing in opposide directions in the same sealed box?

umm i dont know about the whole aiming the subs thing, but i would honestly go with 2 idq's over the max. i have owned both.

I personally would go with the 2 idqs in your situation, and I would not aim them in opposite directions as that is just asking for cancellation. If you do go that route you'd probably have to wire one of them out of phase.

Maybe you can sell/trade that amp for one to power and Idmax.

hmm.. we definately dont want cancelation. If i split the sealed box into 2 chambers i wouldnt have that potential probelm correct?

Incorrect.
Consider the phase issues involved. If you have the same sounds being played from two different speakers that are two different distances from your ears, that same sound will not reach your ears from each speaker at the same moment. You are going for SQ, do it right, have each speaker on the same plane, firing in the same direction, approximately equidistant from the listener's ears.

Two IDQ's would provide better performance than a single IDMax, speaking very generally.
