just installed my new subs, and 1 of them has apparently over-excursed itself and siezed the **** up. Looks like the coil popped out of the gap and cant go back in. I tried pulling and pushing on the cone and couldnt get it to budge. Going to send it back for a replacement and sell all them when i get it back, and go with 2 Audiopipe txx-15s.

Whats weird is these are cheap subs, but i have beat the pure shit out of my other pair on more power, and had no problems. :/ These were brand new and played for 20 mins tops.

Exact same thing happened to my Kove Armageddon...but that was after 2 weeks of feeding it more than double its rms....still trying to find someone to perhaps fix this, no one deals with Kove any more tho. They are long gone....

But when that happened to me I couldnt help but laugh as it did look funny

Yea it looks funny, i was playing some jeezy and heard a loud "slap" sound and noticed it got quieter, but wasnt in protect. Whats weird is it was like a 40hz tone on half volume, so it wasnt even moving that much. I had played bass i love you and stuff and had no problems, shit was slamming. lol

Yea, i guess these subs dont like ported. I was running a pair sealed for 6 months beating the pure shit out of them, and theyre still fine. Im shipping them back in the morning, ill just run 3 sealed.

Some bs pyramid pro 15"s ive been messing with. Theyre 50$ a piece and im doing a build with 4 but will probably change my mind. Only reason im using them is to prove a point. This is actually the first one ive messed up. I was running 2 ported in 7.5cf and they slammed, on only about 800w of power to the pair. The new audiopipe 1800s seem to be pretty stout. I was running almost 1400 to a pair and they took it good sealed, but had alot of tinsel slap.

I messed with some pyramid/legacy drivers back in the day that were actually pretty good considering the price... My kove blew in a sealed box. So you know for a sub to overextend like that sealed it was flexing quite a bit. I was listening to Too Short, a song that doesnt even hit that hard...

Should be a pretty strait forward recone... nothing special about those subs...

i know nothing of repairing subs...but Kove has been out of business for years, so I dont know if Kove parts are availiable anymore. But dont people take other parts and just rebuild subs anyway? Because this sub has a decent motor and basket. I just dont know shit about it
