I'm afraid I may have blown my Type X

Well heres the story. 4 Years ago i got into an accident in my old truck, the type x 12 hit the center console of the truck, after the truck was repaired i hooked the sub back up and i remember a large rattling noise. So i shrugged it off since i had 4 other subs in boxes to use. Fast forward to now, i bought a new truck and are about to put all my stuff in the new truck(mrv-f345 and mrd-m1005) and dont want to run my power HX215 any more since the box is very large and takes up the whole back seat, and the type x sounded so much better.

Heres what the sub does, if i push on the center of the cone everything is normal, if i push on a few of the edges the cone sound scratchy, I assumed a voice coil was knocked loose during the accident.

Unfortunately I do not have the stuff installed in my new truck yet so i cant test it, but i doubt it fixed itself.

Whatchyall think, im guessing it would be cheaper to just buy a new better SQ sub instead of having this one repaired.

That's what I like to hear, but I do recall hearing an odd rattling noise that was quite loud and would progressively get louder as I increased the volume, tomorrow I will borrow my dads truck to test out the sub.

I took the sub from the box about 20 minutes ago, box is fine, no cracks or separations, made sure the gasket was properly sealed and there were no leaks. I did however find a couple screws under the cotton liner, but I doubt this was the sound since i had to pry them out of the edge of the seam sealer with a screw driver. I picked up the sub a shook it like a redheaded step child but that yielded no noise either.

Well, I hooked it up to my dads JL 500/1 And there were no odd noises so far, but it also seemed like the amp just couldnt push it hard enough. I did hear some fluttering like an air leak, cone may be bent slightly since it did hit the center console quite hard. Guess i'll hook up my old system and see what happens. If i have to buy a new sub so be it. Maybe i'll go RE this time.

that sub will handle a nice 3" 8layer coil. the motor's top plate has to be drilled and tapped to except any decent basket.

ith new basket, motor drilled n taped and all built with sewn leads looking @ $165 plus shipping for a 1k version. for a 2k version up it $45...
