i have an alpine 9856 that has a 2 band EQ, bass and treble. i have been dying to get rid of it so i can get a HU with a better EQ and use an RTA to tune my system.

i am also in the market for an active crossover with a bandpass feature so i can set the LPF and HPF for my tweeter and be able to avoid the morel ACCUSET MX-22.2 passive crossover that came with my hybrid ovation 2 way comp. set.

i am bidding on the audiocontrol DQX on ebay, which has a 30 band EQ and a 3 way crossover that is unreal in terms of its features.

if i get the DQX, or something similar, does that mean i can avoid getting a new HU?

i am getting the pioneer 7800mp because i love the sound that the BBE processor gives music. if i keep the alpine HU (which has BBE), the audiocontrol DQX wont 'override' that or otherwise affect it if its installed post-source unit and preamp?

Why do you need two threads?
bc the ebay auction ends in 42 min and i dont wanna buy it and screw someone over if i dont need it or pass up a good deal so i wanted as many people as possible to see it (hence a thread here and in the general discussion section). logical, but i guess annoying. sorry bout that bro.

You might not need a head unit. That audio control unit should allow you to adjust the sound to your liking.

It's definitely worth a try.

you dont need another head unit. i've got an audiocontrol EQX. its a line driver/eq/crossover all in one. great unit. i turn the DEFEAT on my alpine on.. which basically eliminates the bass and treble feature on the head unit. then i adjusted the 13 bands to my liking. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif the audiocontrol will not override any of the head unit's features/settings. however, i do not recommend using BBE, the LOUD feature, or any programmed EQ setting, especially if you already have a proccessor like an audiocontrol. BBE and LOUD settings are basically preset EQ settings so you might as well just use an EQ by itself and customize it to your own preference. for example, if you find BBE suits your taste then maybe u should leave it off and play with the lower frequency (lower frequency=bass) bands on the EQ as to "imitate" or "synthesize" the bass the BBE gives you.
