If Everything Works Out!!!

you lookin at an easy 3 grand a month, just to live. Me and supraman here figured for us to live together in a decent apartment, eat good, have audio stuff to mess with, and food on the table, plus whatever automobile expenses, it would be ATLEAST 1500 a month.

and thats being stingy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

my dad gets bonuses ranging from as low as 15k up to the highest (that i know of) 50k quarterly (lawyer in a partnership)
not trying to brag, just disproving you
he may very well get those kinds of bonuses, but i'm sure he has four or more years of education under his belt, that or a hell lotta know how. this kid is a 17-18 yr.old still in highschool working at who knows where.

but either way, i guess what it all boils down to is what ones' priorities are. i for one am not a materialistic type of person, so i could think of so many different ways to spend that amount of money, including investing as mentioned before, or perhaps saving for a home

After food, utilities, rent, and gas you'll have maybe $500-$700 leftover each month.Don't even get me started on insurance.

Put it this way, you couldn't even afford a new dodge durango.

i wasn't referring to the OP, but to the guy i quoted who said no one gets 2k+ bonuses several times a year... my dad's firm is a partnership where the money brought in from each attorney is all put together, and salary is paid out of that. however, if attorney A brings in 200k in a quarter, and attorney B only brings in 20k in a quarter, attorney B will get a 1k or less bonus, while attorney A may get a 20k bonus for the quarter. I'm making up those figures, obviously, but you get the point.

i knew a girl who tried to convince herself she was gonna buy a brand new dodge srt-10 (~$50,000, give or take some with the options for the truck) off of a 14/hr salary with everything to pay for except a house/apt, although she paid utilites for the house. i just laughed.

just for the reccord, all 17yr olds dont think they can buy the world. Much as i might like to spend 90k-60k for a car i know its crazy. heck i can make 25 an hr. but theres no way i can work 40hr. a week. and if i had 16k in the bank.... BUY A CAR WITH CASH IF YOU NEED IT SO BADLY. get a car to get you to work for the next 5 years or so and save up your money. you might not realize it but theirs a lot of stuff to pay for just to live. WHAT IF YOU GET SICK!! not workin man.

where in southwest michigan can you make 25/hr?

If everything works out right this time next year ill be driving my dream car and have my own appartment...my friends mom is suppose to get me a job where she works startin at 16/hr and double pay for overtime. Then you get bonus checks of like 2-3 g's every couple of months. Heres a pic of my dream car. Next year ill try to see what kind of deal i can get and how low of payments. If i cant get this ferrari ill get a 97 i like for like 80 g's.

I didnt read this whole thread.....but lets see if I understand this?

You plan on making $16 an hour, living on your own, and owning a ferrari?

Was the $16 a typo, was it supposed to be $160 an hour? Or are you truly that clueless?

I don't really think that disproves anything. Your Dad is a lawyer in a partnership, the OP is a 17 yo kid getting a job at $16 per hour.

The fact that the OP is only 17 tells me he has not yet gone through college (if he even plans to go to college) and that if his friends mom is getting him the job it's also probably not one that has much of an interview process, which (and no offence to the OP) tells me it's a job that is a big leap away from a lawyer (or any other professional/executive type position).

I am sure your Dad makes a heck of a lot more than $16 per hour to start with, and had to work a hell of a lot harder to get where he is than getting a job via his friends mom.

You would be the surprising the jobs you can land that way. In the real professional world, that is how you get your start even after you have a college degree. The degree is only a ticket to ride, you still have to get to the station on your own. Sometimes, a friend's mom, will see you walking, pick you help, and help you get there.
